Main purpose of the job:
Manager the day to day operations of the Deputy High Commissioner’s Residence and to cook simple meals as and when required.
Roles and responsibilities:
Residence Manager
Ensure successful day-to-day operation of the DHC’s Official Residence in line with the FCO policy.
Ensure the Residence is well kept always by routine maintenance
Ensure residence related issues are resolved quickly by closely working with the Corporate Services team and be their first point of contact.
Line manage, provide leadership and management support to 3 member team at the residence.
Maintain inventory of official quota of liquor, record usages and keep auditable records.
Manage events, including co-ordinating with external catering agencies end ensuring smooth service during events
Be flexible on working hours, especially during peak season of visiting guests
Welcome guests on arrival
Liaise with building management and residential society
Cooking
To be able to prepare meals as required
To be able to read menus & recipe books in English
Hygiene & Cleanliness:
To maintain high levels of cleanliness & hygiene in the kitchen and in preparation of meals.
To ensure tables are cleared and cleaned, and that dishes, utensils and kitchen surfaces are cleaned after each meal.
Responsible for cleanliness & maintenance of all kitchen equipment, kitchen, utensils, electronics, refrigerators, freezers
Ensure refrigerators & freezers are kept free of unwanted/ expired foodstuff
Maintain deep cleaning schedules and carry out them as per schedule.
Procurement:
To source & use seasonal vegetables, meats & ingredients in consultation with the DHC
To be cost & quality conscious while shopping for food
Maintain Kitchen & Cutlery Inventory:
Maintain accurate inventory of kitchen equipment, cutlery, food consumed, stored in freezers, other cooking ingredients etc.
Maintain up-to-date shopping ledger, pay & account for expenses in the office accounting software and get them approved.
Preserve food & leftovers properly
Report to Line Manager any replacements, damages, new procurement etc.

3 staff Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Language requirements:
Language: English & Hindi, Spoken Marathi will be an added advantage
Level of language required: Fluent in spoken & written English. Good spoken Hindi.
